4 Easy Muay Thai Moves for Self-Defense

I like Thai food as much as the next guy.

So when I got the chance to learn some Muay Thai, I thought it sounded like a dish of Pad Thai or something.

Anyway, Muay Thai is also known as “The Art of Eight Limbs.”

Which means the techniques use the eight points of contact used in war.

These contact points include the hands, used as the sword and dagger, and the shins and forearms, which will shield you from an incoming attack.

The elbows are used as a hammer, and the leg and knees represent the axes and staff.

Muay Thai Elbow Techniques

One way of protecting yourself is by using Muay Thai Elbow techniques.

This technique will help you overcome long-distance attacks, including haymakers and jab.

When using the elbow techniques, the tip of your elbow represents the tip of the knife.

Time the move right to “cut” the attacker.

Here are a couple techniques for you:

Slashing Elbow

Popularly known as the downward elbow or Sok Ti, this is the best move to use if you are targeting your opponent’s forehead, temple, chin or eyebrow.

This technique can be used by both novice and experienced individuals to counter haymakers.

You should lift your elbow until it is in line with your forehead.

Continue to shift your weight towards your front feet before swinging your elbow diagonally at a 45-degree angle.

Spinning Elbow

Sok Glab or spinning elbow is a fancy technique used only when the opponent is knocked out and helpless.

Begin with the Muay Thai stance and rotate your left foot to the left.

Proceed to spin your elbows towards the attacker’s torso.

Remember to generate the force from your hips.

Muay Thai Clinch Techniques

These techniques allow you to defend yourself and counter-attack the assailant at the same time.

Use these techniques to hinder the attacker from throwing jabs and punches.

Here are a couple of these techniques:

Arm Clinch

Use this technique to control the attacker’s arms before delivering deadly strikes to the stomach.

You can also use a leg sweep to throw him or her to the ground.

Side Clinch

You should hold part of the attacker’s neck using your hands.

Place one of your hands on the front of the body with the other arm going behind his arm.

You can now deliver a strike on the attacker’s abdominal muscles.

Deliver a Muay Thai knee kick on the body if he or she tries to escape.

So those are some easy tactics you can learn pretty quickly.

Muay Thai techniques are an art form that will also improve your mental and physical health.

If you combine one or two of these techniques…

With this sneaky, lethal “zipper knife”…

You’ll be unstoppable.

What is it? It’s a discrete, compact knife that doubles as a tool that can be deployed in mili-seconds.

It’s lightweight so it won’t weigh you down.

You can store them everywhere, and even hang it on a zipper.

Right now, and for a very short time, you can get one for free.

But there are only 45 of them available for the give away.
